I feel like coffee.





My friend Ivana spent twenty minutes this morning trying to explain to me the definition of voglia di caffè. As I supped espresso in the midday sun, new Italian shoes in hand and the promise of sushi for lunch, I idly wondered what it meant when I saw it written on my cup.



By the time I finally understood how to use the bloody phrase, I had to declare voglia di caffè AGAIN because damn. Sometimes the most simple things cause the biggest confusions.



And therein lies my observation for both caffeine related sentences, and life as I know it.

I teach creative writing, and often what happens is that my students repeat my words back to me and I don't understand that it was me who said them first and it's a headfuck. Boys who are so awesome they have two names.

His name was Gianluca, and he was exactly the type you aren't supposed to like: bolshy, demanding, and uncompromising.  He was the kind to push you to your absolute limits; he'd have you questioning your own self, experimenting with the ways he could disarm you with his blistering blue eyes and cheeky wink, juxtaposed against his quick-wit and debilitating honesty. #RomanCapsuleWardrobe

I'm not a fashion blogger (obviously) - or even, really, "fashionable" (obviously again). I like clothes and how they make me feel, though. That a ripped jean matches my sassy-pants mood, or adding a blazer takes me into #GirlBoss maven. I understand the need for a good handbag and proper leather shoes as I approach 30, and am finally settling into an aesthetic that suits me. I've made a huge fuss to anyone who would listen about packing for my summer away with only hand luggage to my name, because my key skill keys include: accents, being really good at Sundays, and The Capsule Wardrobe. I'm not a hoarder - my belongings fit in six boxes, kept in my parents' garage - and moving around so much means I know what I need, and (more importantly) what I don't.
